International Project - Day 5

Objective	International Festival Project - Day 3 8-1: Netherlands 8-2: Italy 8-3: Portugal
Resources to Understand Lesson	1)      Door Decoration – Use country theme, see attached rubric. This is a contest and judging will be at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 16.   2)      Presentation board with important facts – (Due Nov. 15th  to parent in charge of booth). This will be displayed on Nov. 17th in the continent booth. Some items that are recommended for the board are: ·        Display map of the country – mark on a globe/poster – highlight political/geographic facts (capital, major landforms, population, president, head of state etc.) ·        Folk dances – could be shown on iPad ·        Language – display script – teach visitors a few words (hello, welcome, thank you) ·        National sport/ popular games children play ·        Clothing/Costume/National Dress ·        Currency – show its USD equivalent ·        Crafts demonstration ·        Interactive Game ·        Fun Facts - Famous People/Nobel prize winners etc. Please remember this is a starting point and students are encouraged to be creative (use technology) and explore ways to best represent their country. 3)      Craft - Have students demonstrate a popular craft from the country. This may be recorded and shown on an iPad. 4)      Interactive Game – Student created game that will be played by visitor at the booth with the objective of learning more about the country(could include fun facts/famous people and examples of game could be spin the wheel, board game etc.) 5)      Flag – Each student should have a flag of the country. Ms. Magallanes will help with this and is ordering flat tongue depressors for you to use. This should be ready by Nov. 8th. We will have a practice run of the parade before the big event.
